In Blantyre, many young boys grow up surrounded by instability, poverty, and broken family structures. For some, the streets become a place of survival rather than choice. Brothers In Arms (BIA) exists to interrupt that cycle — offering hope, structure, and a future grounded in dignity.

What began as a simple act of compassion — sharing meals with boys living on the streets after church — has grown into a holistic initiative addressing the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of at-risk youth. In 2025, Brothers In Arms continued to expand its impact through discipleship, education, vocational training, farming, and sports outreach.

A Year of Tangible Impact

Throughout the year, Brothers In Arms reached hundreds of children through outreach programs across Blantyre. Street-based engagement allowed the team to listen to the stories of street-connected children, understand their trauma, and provide pathways back to safety, family, and education.

At the residential center, boys experienced stability many had never known before — regular meals, consistent mentorship, access to education, and a structured daily routine. Healing from trauma was paired with discipline, responsibility, and purpose.

Education, Skills, and Sustainability

Education remained a core pillar of transformation. Some boys re-entered formal schooling, while others benefited from catch-up education programs that helped them bridge learning gaps caused by years on the streets. Vocational training in tailoring, welding, mechanics, plumbing, and farming equipped boys with practical skills to earn a dignified living.

The farm became a symbol of sustainability and responsibility. Through irrigation farming, the center produced maize, vegetables, and bananas — feeding the boys while teaching patience, teamwork, and stewardship. Farming was not just about food; it was about restoring dignity through work.

Sports as a Tool for Change

Sports continued to be one of BIA’s most powerful tools for transformation. Through football and basketball, boys learned discipline, teamwork, consistency, and confidence. Participation in competitive leagues such as SOZOBAL exposed talent, opened opportunities, and showed the boys that their past does not define their future.

Discipleship and Spiritual Growth

At the heart of Brothers In Arms is discipleship. Through regular Bible studies, mentorship, and spiritual emphasis days, many boys encountered faith as a source of identity and healing. Several made commitments to Christ and began walking a journey of spiritual growth and leadership.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on 2025, we give thanks for every life impacted, every story rewritten, and every partner who walked this journey with us. While challenges remain, our vision is clear: to help young men move from taking from society to contributing to it.

We invite you to continue walking with us — through prayer, partnership, and support — as we build a future filled with hope, purpose, and transformation.
