As we reflect on 2024, we are overwhelmed with gratitude. This year has been marked by spiritual revival, vocational breakthroughs, restored families, and growing partnerships. From the streets of Blantyre to our residential center in Lunzu, your support has been the backbone of every success. This blog shares our highlights, stories, and milestones from a truly transformational year at Brothers In Arms.

Growth Milestones in 2024

As we look back on this past year, we are filled with awe at what God has done through your faithful support. Behind every number is a name, a face, and a story of transformation. These milestones represent real lives being healed, trained, restored, and reconnected with hope. Here's a glimpse of what we accomplished together in 2024:

  • 300 youth reached through spiritual emphasis workshops

  • 61 youth engaged through sports evangelism

  • 3 successful harvests at our farm via new irrigation systems

  • 41 children recruited through street rescue outreach

  • 30 parents/guardians engaged monthly in family strengthening

  • 16 boys enrolled in vocational trades like tailoring, welding, mechanics, and electrical installation

  • 22 alumni boys followed up monthly through our alumni network

  • 10 boys reintegrated into their communities

  • 2 annual celebrations (Christmas & Easter) with over 250 children

  • 350+ youth connected through Mbayani After School Club

Our Three-Pronged Approach

  1. Street-Based Outreach

Our team continues to build bridges with children still living on the streets. Through Bible studies, sports, one-on-one counseling, and consistent presence, we bring the hope of Christ into hard places. Many have taken their first steps toward change through these encounters.

  1. Center-Based Transformation

This year, 16 boys joined our residential center, where they experienced structure,

family life, and restoration. Life at the center includes:

  • Daily devotions and Bible study

  • Farming and animal care

  • Formal and catch-up education

  • Vocational training

  • Sports and community involvement

  • Mentorship through our “Elder Brother” and dorm parents

We are seeing boys grow into responsible, hopeful young men.

  1. Family & Community Involvement

Monthly gatherings with families and guardians are equipping them to support reintegration and prevent children from returning to the streets. We also mobilize communities to take ownership in protecting vulnerable youth.

Over the course of three days of a spiritual emphasis event, we witnessed 150 youths surrender their lives to Christ. Our prayer has always been for these boys to live out the gospel, and they are. Over 200 youths were in attendance. This is revival at street level!

8 Success Stories that Inspired Us

1. Irrigation Farming Breakthrough

For the first time, we harvested three times in one year! This has significantly reduced food costs and allowed boys to gain hands-on farming experience, making them confident to manage farming independently after leaving the center.

2. Tailoring School Launch

Our tailoring program has empowered boys to design clothing and build vocational dignity. Their products are now ready for external sale and business opportunities.

3. Welding Skills for the Future

With the new welding program, boys now construct gates, window frames, and doors—practical skills with great potential for self-reliance.

4. Soul Winners Rising

Wilson, once a boy on the street, now preaches boldly to his peers. During our spiritual emphasis and Christmas events, over 100 youth gave their lives to Christ through his ministry.

5. Mbayani Rescue Program

Through weekly outreach in Mbayani, we help street-connected youth process trauma and fear through Scripture and build trust that leads to healing.

6. Vocational Purpose in Plumbing & Pot Making

Lingson found meaning in plumbing. He now dreams of starting a business to support his single mother and sister who was also affected by street life.

7. Juwawo Joins Youth With A Mission

An orphan with no traceable family, Juwawo is now pursuing full-time ministry with YWAM. His story is one of radical transformation.

8. Basketball Team Formed

What began as a pastime is now a full regional basketball team. It’s become a tool for discipline, teamwork, and restoring confidence.

TEAM LEADER'S WORDS EBENEZER (2 Samuel 7:12)

This year has truly been a blessed one, and we say with joy—Ebenezer, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” Among the many success stories, the introduction of irrigation farming, which enabled us to harvest three times in a single year, stands out as one of the greatest highlights.

We also launched welding and tailoring programs at the center, marking a significant step forward in our vocational training efforts. Even more beautiful is seeing some of the boys from our first cohort embrace the call of God on their lives. They have become evangelists—sharing the Gospel with their peers. One of them is now enrolled in Bible training. These young men—Grant, Wilson, and Juwawo—have become living testimonies of God’s transformative power. We are reminded that sometimes, we minister to one, and he goes on to minister to many.

As a family, we are deeply thankful to God Almighty for the great things He has done this year. On December 20th, we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary, and we thank the Lord for this milestone. We continue to covet your prayers as we serve as parents to hundreds of children under our care, both through outreach and in our residential center. We also marked 10 years of pastoral ministry with Discipleship International Church, a work we co-pioneered a decade ago. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for how God has used this platform to equip and inspire people in some of Malawi’s most difficult situations.

We believe with all our hearts that the Gospel has the power to mend broken hearts. Together, we are transforming a generation toward godliness.

Thank you for supporting Brothers In Arms Initiative.

Asante – Team Leader

Together, we are rebuilding lives, restoring families, and raising a godly generation. Thank you for being part of this mission.
